The old part lies on a well-protected peninsula around a natural port. Due to its3,000 year long history, the city can boast of an extremely rich cultural and historic heritage. Zadar Archipelago has 300 islands and islets, and clean waters. In its market, you will find fresh fruit and vegetables grown on the islands of Ugljan and Pasman, and around Vransko Lake, as well as a large selection of fish, molluscs and shells.
