Property for Sale aquitaine

Property in Aquitaine

The region of Aquitaine is best known for its beaches, although it also has plenty of mountain scenery and peaceful countryside to attract those looking to buy property.

Outside of Dordogne, which is Aquitaine’s most famous department, Aquitaine has not attracted many British buyers. Recently, though, the government have worked hard at improving communication links and this should make buying property in Aquitaine more desirable.

St Jean Pied de Port

Aquitaine is a very agricultural region, which prides itself on its fresh fruit and vegetables. The landscape is made up of both sandy plains and mountain foothills, sprinkled with areas woodland, the largest being the Lands de Gascogne.

Aquitaine is also the perfect place for watersports and is one of the world’s best-known surfing areas. Its close proximity to the Pyrenees also makes it ideal for canyoning and rafting, as well as skiing and hiking.

The fact that Aquitaine was not so easily reached as other regions of France has meant that also the prices have not risen as quickly as in other regions (the exception to this being Dordogne, which has always been more expensive), but this may now change as more cheap airlines are servicing the region, which will in turn attract people to buy property in Aquitaine.
