Property in the South of France

The South of France has always been a popular destination for overseas buyers. With its warm, sunny climate and fashionable cities, it has long been known as a “rich man’s playground” for the wealthy and famous.

Nice, which is the capital of the Riviera, is one of the most fashionable resorts in Europe. Although Nice is very built up, it has a lovely beach and a pretty medieval old town. Further eastwards, on the Italian border, you have Monaco, renowned for gambling and good nightlife. Here, the properties are well known to be very expensive – serving well for the rich and famous.

Cannes and Antibes mark the beginning of the French Riviera with its busy coastal market and 16th Century chateau Grimaldi. Juan les Pins attracts young holiday makers. Buying property in Cannes will guarantee you a good rental income all year round, especially in the summer with the Cannes Film Festival, where people often like to go “star spotting”.

St Tropez Harbour

St Tropez is well known as the “rich man’s playground”. Here, wealthy business men dock their multi-million pound yachts and enjoy the fashionable, lively bars and restaurants and spend their money in the lively boutiques.

The busy city of Marseille, with its attractive port docked by hundreds of pleasure boats and yachts, streets lined with boutiques and restaurants, is a vibrant place with nightlife to suit all tastes. Further east, there is a stretch of coastline between Hyeres and St Raphael Frejus, which enjoys medieval hilltop villages overlooking orchards and vineyards, which does not rely on the tourist trade as much as other resorts. These places are becoming more popular with people looking to invest in property in the South of France. Marseille enjoys a busy sales and lettings market and is therefore a good choice for property investment.
