Bologna Guide

The more popular tourist cities of Florence, Rome and Venice, means that Bologna is often overlooked by the holidaymakers, and benefits from this and is more appealing for it. The best times to visit are when the climate is mild in spring and autumn. Summer can be oppressively hot while the winter can be pretty cold. Even when the tourist season is in full swing it does not become overcrowded.

Sights to note are the Pinacoteca which houses a fine collection of Italian Renaissance art. On Piazza Maggiore the Museo Morsandi and the Churches of Santo Santo Stefano. Bolagna is also known as Bologna the red after the clay roof tiles which can be seen very well if you climb the Torre degle Asinelli.

Just 30 Kilometres from Bolagna is the renowned town of Modena home of Ferrari and Maserati. For music lovers, Modena was also the home of Luciano Pavarotti. A little further west is Palma and an hour further south is the delightful city of Florence
