Majorca Property for Sale - Property in Majorca (Mallorca) Spain

Majorca

The climate has very much shaped its character and attracted outsiders who influence can still be felt with Romans, Arabs and more recently Europeans all leaving their mark on the island.

An incredibly varied island it has over 70 stunning beaches ranging from long golden stretches to quaint sandy coves, 38 of which received the Blue Flag Award in 2005. Majorca has breathtaking landscapes, magnificent pine scented mountains of the Serra de Tramuntana, hilltop castles and monasteries, unspoilt lush countryside dotted with picturesque windmills. Charming fishing ports, chic marinas and pretty villages, through to the cosmopolitan capital city of Palma, make it a winner.

The very popular holiday resort of Santa Ponsa, is approximately 12 miles west of the capital Palma and along with its more famous neighbours, Palma Nova and Magaluf, are part of the municipal district of Calvia on the south west coast. Santa Ponsa has a gentle coastline with long, fine sandy beaches and pretty villages. Facilities here are excellent, with numerous restaurants, shops, hotels, nightlife and good beaches for swimming. In the new developments around Nova Santa Ponsa and El Toro you can find property in the surrounding hills with spectacular sea views.

Golf properties are abundant in this area too, from semi-detached houses or apartments in well-kept communities to extremely luxurious frontline country houses on one of Santa Ponsa’s 3 golf courses. Making the return trip into Palma for either shopping or sightseeing is farily easy by public transport. Buses run throughout the day and stop in Santa Ponsa on their journey east through the resorts of Magaluf and Palma Nova towards the capital. The resort really comes alive in the early evening, but is never as busy or noisy as either Palma Nova or Magaluf.

The main beach at Santa Ponsa is reasonably large and in recent years it has been extended. In the high season it is popular with tourist and locals alike. If you want to escape the crowds, there is a smaller secondary beach set in its own sheltered cover about 15 minutes walk away. Both beaches have the usual facilities expected of a modern resort, along with a good variety of water sports equipment available for hire. Swimming in the bay is generally quite safe with no strong currents, and fairly shallow waters.
